Retirement Homes in Coimbatore: What Is Available
Coimbatore has one of India's largest groups of retirement communities. One senior living advisory firm counts about 5,500 retirement housing units in the city, the most of any Indian city (Free Press Journal, July 2026). The communities fall into three kinds: independent living for active adults, assisted living with help for daily tasks, and nursing homes.
Most independent communities around the city sell apartments or villas, in areas such as Kovaipudur, Chettipalayam, Vadavalli and the Siruvani Road. A smaller number rent by the month. Which Coimbatore Retirement Communities Let You Rent?
These Coimbatore-area communities listed monthly rents in July 2025 (Jeevin Senior Care):
- Aarogya Kudumbam, Mangarai: from ₹21,000 a month.
- Nandanam Retirement Community, Chettipalayam: ₹22,000 per person.
- Melur Meadows, near Mettupalayam: from ₹41,000 per person a month; it also sells and leases.
- Swasthya Retirement Home, Pollachi: short stays from ₹53,000 a month with a ₹1,06,000 security deposit; it also sells villas.
Aran Senior Living in Thondamuthur is rented only, with no units for sale. Stays run from a few days to long term.
What Daily Life at Aran Includes
Each resident has a fully furnished private residence, single or double occupancy, across 18 residences with room for 36 people. The kitchen is pure vegetarian and cooks home-style meals every day, served indoors or in the outdoor dining garden. Housekeeping and laundry are included in the rent.
Residents spend the day as they like: walks around the campus, the community hall and library, visits to Isha Yoga Center about 12 km away, or time with family who visit. The whole campus is wheelchair accessible, with ramps along every pathway.
Stays come in three lengths: a few days to try it, a few weeks for a season away from the city, or months and longer.
What Happens in an Emergency?
Pressing SOS alerts the on-site staff straight away, wherever on campus the resident is. RFID presence awareness lets staff know residents are safe without knocking on doors, and the command center is staffed 24/7.
